The Alarmists by Don Hoesel

It is December 2012, could the world be coming to an end? Natural disasters appear to be on the rise. A special Pentagon unit of scientist soldiers are sent to investigate mysterious incidents around the world. Sociologist Brent Michaels is called in to assist after the team finds evidence the disasters are man-made. The team must find who is behind the incidents, and they must do it before a catastrophic event occurs. The Alarmists by Don Hoesel follows the team as they search down every lead, and as they try to get to the bottom of what they find. As they travel around the globe, what they find could affect the entire world.

I found the book to be a good read. It was very clever in tying in current events from around the world. The characters in this book were very well done. Even the minor characters were well developed, and made to feel integral to the story. The Christianity in the book, while not a major focus, did receive more than just a passing mention. I would have loved to see the christian characters more developed in how their faith was integral in military decisions. That said, I would recommend this book. It definitely is a good read in this genre. I definitely may be interested in checking other books by Hoesel after reading this book.
